Announcements/Reminders

Bring your instrument, your method book, a pencil, and your band binder to each rehearsal.

If you are struggling with reading the music or getting the right notes out, please come talk to me so I can help you! If you are not struggling, feel free to move ahead in the book at your own pace.

If you set up installments for your band fee, don't forget to make your payments. Thank you!

Weekly Practicing Assignments
Each student should be writing down weekly practicing goals in their binders. Included in those goals each week is one assignment from me that they are supposed to play for an adult at home, who will then sign the practicing goal page. The students can show me the page with the signature and earn 5 extra band tokens. They will also earn tokens for each day that they practice. I will post the assignments here, just in case the students forget to write it down. These assignments might be too easy or too hard for some students. Just do your best, and if they're too easy work on harder music as well.

From now until the concert: Pick a concert song to work on
Over Christmas break: Eagle Summit March (page 17) as well as other monster concert songs

Practicing routine: Each practice session should start with a warm-up, mouthpiece notes and open notes just like we do in band. Then work on scales (for beginners it's the 5 note scale we've worked on in band, advanced should play the scales from page 37). Then play the weekly assignment and other songs from the book. You may also work on monster concert music and other music. Then clean out your instrument and put it away.
